UK Tatts February Sale: $171k Selkirk Mare

Friday, 3rd February 2012

In the UK auction ring overnight, bloodstock agent Charlie Gordon-Watson paid top price of 110,000 guineas (A$171,000) for 4YO mare Appeal (Selkirk-Amenixa, by Linamix) during the 1-day Tattersalls February Sale at Newmarket. Appeal (a winner at Wolverhampton last month) was consigned from trainer Sir Mark Prescott's Heath House Stables on behalf of Prince Faisal Salman's Denford Stud & is a half-sister to French Gr2-winner Zinziberine. Gordon-Watson commented: "She's been bought for an existing client, but for a new partnership. She's going back to Sir Mark & as she is currently in such good form, we might as well take advantage of that & try for a bit of black-type. She will be covered later this spring."
